On April 2, edaily exclusively reported the possible collaboration of Lee Byung Hun, Son Ye Jin, and Park Chan Wook. According to the reports, the two top Korean actors are in discussion for roles in Park Chan Wook’s next film, “The Ax,” remake.

Following the reports, BH Entertainment and MSteam Entertainment confirmed that the Concrete Utopia actor Lee Byung Hun and “Crash Landing On You” actress Son Ye Jin received offers. They are considering these roles for Park Chan Wook’s upcoming film positively.

Lee Byung Hun and Son Ye Jin are potential stars in this project. The Squid Game actor Lee Byung Hyun has previously worked with Park in notable films like “Joint Security Area.”

At the same time, the upcoming movie will be Son Ye Ji’s first collaboration with director Park Chan Wook, marking a significant milestone in her career. In addition, it will mark her grand comeback in a new project following her JTBC drama “Thirty Nine” in 2021. Notably, she married her co-star Hyun Bin from the K-drama series “Crash Landing on You” on March 21, 2022. The couple then embraced the joy of parenthood with the arrival of their first baby boy on November 27, 2022.

According to the reports, the movie’s production is set to begin in the fall of 2024. Furthermore, this film holds special significance for the “Old Boy” director Park Chan Wook, who dubs it his “lifelong passion project” and aims to make it his masterpiece. Following his hit work in “Decision to Leave,” the director actively participates in the HBO series “The Sympathizer.” His distinctive films, known for exploring violence and dark themes, have garnered international acclaim.
